History

DEVETEX was established in 1996 as the result of merging the lining divisions of Verseidag AG, Krefeld, and C.A. Delius & Söhne GmbH & Co. KG, Bielefeld. At that point in time, both companies were looking back on decades of successful tradition in the lining industry. This merger was the start of a consolidation process in the industry, in which DEVETEX played a major role by the acquisition of two competitors, namely Conze & Colsman GmbH & Co. KG in 2002 and Rheinische Textilfabriken AG ("Frowein") in 2003. DEVETEX became the European market leader in premium linings for ladies wear, menswear and corporate fashion.

Next to the traditional core business, DEVETEX has been strongly focused on the development and sales of technical textiles. DEVETEX has been a qualified supplier of a wide range of technical products, including medical textiles, labels and ribbons and special linings for leather goods.

DEVETEX GmbH in its current form was created in February 2010 as the result of a deep restructuring process. The majority of the shares are held by Sedatex S.A., one of the largest, dedicated European manufactures of textiles. Sedatex is owner-managed and is looking back on 125 years of tradition in the textile industry. The remaining shares are held by the management of DEVETEX.

The cooperation between Devetex and Sedatex was the basis for the decision to expand the range of products to include Fashion Fabrics.
